W00t! first post!

Yaaaay! Decided on a whim to start a blog because I have recently become obsessed with various crafting. It all started when I was browsing Etsy and I saw a tatted bracelet. I had no clue what tatting was - when I think of the word 'tat' or 'tatted' I think of a tattoo, I guess it's just the generation huh? Anyways I immediately googled the term and came across tatting, which is apparently the lost art - more on that later- of lacemaking with a shuttle or needle. I became instantly enamored with the art of it. I purchased all the tools and began to tat in my spare time, which was soon pretty much all the time.

Unfortunately, there are not a lot of places in Houston to find supplies for tatting. I went on wild goose chases after very nice and well-meaning people would send me to 'that other sewing shop'. I think I eventually went to about 10+ stores looking for supplies and decided to start ordering online.

At this point I was amazed by all the things I saw in these many shops as far as embroidery, crochet, knitting, and cross stitch. I was so frustrated with the fact that I couldn't find my tatting supplies anywhere that I decided to pick up crocheting! I am so glad I did and I am having so much fun discovering all the nuances of crocheting, as well as the community.

I have been thinking about picking up new hobbies in needlecraft, but I'm a bit afraid to spread myself too thin. As of right now, everyone I work with is pressing me for bits of lace and blankets and amigurumi (officially my favorite style of crochet!) so I think I will be busy for quite some time. :D

I basically just wanted to start this blog to show off things I have made and help people who are into tatting to find the things they need and maybe even post patterns I will make eventually in my crocheting and tatting. Even if nobody reads, it's always nice to have a place that you can go to and see your progression and different accomplishments. Hopefully, this helps some people to get ideas for their crocheting and tatting. :D
